Eesti!
What can bring a young student like me from Caucasus region to Tartu? This is a question, which may be answered in thousands of ways by various people, while, I have a simple answer: the endless desire for education. A small city in a Baltic region, but the SECOND largest city in Estonia, is the scientific and cultural center and a home for the oldest university in Estonia, Tartu University. Well, do you think this is the only reason I came here? Not really.
In my search of finding a cozy place full of “intelligent” and “academic” air, Tartu University was not in the list at all, until, one day, I met an Estonian during my EVS in Spain, who, encouraged me to apply, but said to be sure that I was ready for day and night studying. Huh? Well, I applied and I’m in Tartu, already my favorite city in the world, full of my desired “intelligent” and “academic” air. And guess what? She was right, Tartu is a perfect place for a student. I’m surprised how come we know so less about the University of Tartu, where the education system is amazingly effective for everyone wishing to get quality education.
This city really loves the students, it embraces us from the first day we come here. Seems like everything works like a clock, your task as a student is just studying. Well, when I say studying, does not mean ONLY studying, you can find plenty of extracurricular activities, and you are very welcome to do whatever you want/can according to your abilities/preferences. Like I already had a chance to participate in a poetry event, reading my poems, in English and even in my mother tongue, Armenian, though nobody understood what I read 🙂
Well, this is what brought me here, after some time I’ll get to know what keeps me here, in Eesti, näeme hiljem for now.
